If you have a question that need not be secret, please ask it here.
Gm * Man of Angles * Sionnach * Scealai *

Every phrase and every sentence is an end and a beginning,/Every poem an epitaph. And any action/Is a step to the block, to the fire, down the sea's throat/Or to an illegible stone: and that is where we start.
We die with the dying:/See, they depart, and we go with them./We are born with the dead:/See, they return, and bring us with them./The moment of the rose and the moment of the yew-tree/Are of equal duration. A people without history/Is not redeemed from time, for history is a pattern/Of timeless moments. So, while the light fails/On a winter's afternoon, in a secluded chapel/History is now and England

Nope, you invest in Offices to control them. Ideally, as an unaligned person, you're investing on behalf of a Great House and getting something out of it for your efforts.

You could try to impress Eleanor to win glory or influence to get what you need done, but goals that are not related to the Regency and the Great Offices of State are not covered by the metagame. Those are just elbow-grease and maneuvering.

Glory won by members of the Royal House or other unaligned NPCs can be won to a particular cause through persuasion.

I have been wrestling with this question ever since I saw your roll.

I designed the game and the events long ago, imagining different circumstances, and it seems appropriate that we play the game in the situation that we have in hand. If there were five teams competing, I think I'd have a different answer. In this case, there are two, one of which hasn't completed its rolls and would therefore also potentially benefit from an adjustment, here. I would much rather have two successful presentations to compare than two unsuccessful presentations and no clear winner.

Additionally, this event includes a presentation, but in a sense the thing is being carefully constructed before the presentation and the rolls--even the Orate roll--could be interpreted as showing planning and practice. A failure caught in practice could result in a shift to another character. Also, there's absolutely no guarantee that the other characters in this case will actually be successful. This is simply another chance at rolling the dice. Therefore, I'm going to say yes.

The other "team" event is the boat race later on. In that instance, characters on the team will also be performing different rolls, but rather than a planned event largely happening outside of the public eye, that will be all action and in the now. For that reason, there will not be second tries or shifted responsibilities in that event.

Melee registration: What is the difference between reserve and charge? Also, if attempt only step 2 and pass, can you pick your side as well or only the starting status?

A couple of questions:

1)If you have no preference as to where you're placed in the melee, can you throw your fate into the Marshal's hands without offending him?

2) With A Sovereign of Lindsfarne, is it considered contested for the purposes of family characteristics?

I'll post the melee event in ooc shortly. Basically, it comes down to how fast you want to be in combat and whether you think you can pass Tourney rolls.

If you only attempt step two you can pick your side.

A couple of questions:

1) Nope, the introduction is part of the gig. The Marshal's got to screen so that people are less likely to get killed.

2) For the de Montfort family characteristic, totally.
