[D6 EM] Blood Sausage and Blood Buckets

Post by Giles de Braose » Wed Sep 22, 2021 10:09 am

Giles sat in a small camp chair, a half finished plate of breakfast from the kitchen beside him as he looked over the condition of John Castle again.

He was improving and probably wouldn't be here much longer, at least in Giles's estimation, so Giles was just spending a little time here observing as the man breathed reasonably comfortably.

Sir John took solid food yesterday in the night, which was an encouraging sign, but this morning he has been somewhat longer abed than was his custom. Only now can Giles see him beginning to stir.

"Wha-" he comes to slowly, with some confusion.

At the sound of confusion Giles glances up from his meal. "Sir Castle. Glad to see you with us again." He comments, a littlle put off by the man's confusion.

"Do you feel up to something light to eat?"

"Hm?" He looks over at you with a little surprise. "Right...sure." He seems to be getting with it. "Food would be nice. You are?"

Unlike Giles's heartier plate, there is a bowl of thin broth for John which Giles carries over.

"That is a good start at least Sir, it seems that the fall from your steed did not addle your brain. I would advise against too much unnecessary movement for now however, the silk thread is easily torn with major shifts in the skin."

Giles places the bowl on his unpunctured side so John can feed himself and observes the efforts for any sign of pain or difficulty.

"Well I can't stop you if you wish to display your valour and commitment to honor King Richard in the first tournament since he took the throne good Sir. Though I fear it would be a very short performance which will deliver you back to my tender care once more. I would advise a few weeks of light activity, but you should be able to walk assisted in the next day or two."

"Well, that's some comfort." He shakes his head. "Thanks for the advice. Is that Montfort going to be in it?"

"Well he made it through the joust relatively unscathed, but I don't think they're opening entries until tomorrow so I can't be certain. I'd say a better than average chance he is. Does your blood boil for a chance to even the score?"

"In the end, Sir John, we all answer to a higher power than ourselves, just keep that in mind before you plan de Montfort's comeuppance. The boy followed all the rules and regulations of the encounter, but I shan't tell you what to do, if your pride demands a reckoning, then so be it. Just wait a few weeks at least, or unless you're an exceptional healer, the next time we see each other, our conversation may be a little more one sided."

Giles laughed out loud. "Been called worse, but I'll concede the point. If you can finish that broth and keep it down though, I'll ease up the nagging and approve some proper food to help get your strength back."

Grumbling, he sets to it with a will, and soon the broth has been consumed. He hands the bowl back to you with a look best described as sour.

GIles watched approvingly as the man drank down the liquid with no difficulty.

"Well, it is a long trip to the Holy Land." Giles replied a little softer than hos regular speaking voice. "I see no reason why with a little rest on that voyage you wouldn't be in top fighting form when you arrived. Although if complications were to arise..."

He raises an eyebrow. "And miss fighting for Our Lord and retaking the Holy City? No, if there are complications, then I will have died in the process of performing the lord's work, my soul well shriven. Nothing to fear, there."

"Then we will have you in top fighting shape by the time you are needed to raise your sword for our Lord God." Giles confirmed before moving on to itemize the expended resources in returning Sir John back to health.
