The Royal Apartments do not have a guard posted outside. Perhaps the King is not within? In any case the door is slightly ajar, beckoning. Perhaps the little Faulconbridge chose the very worst possible spot to carry out his plan.

Every phrase and every sentence is an end and a beginning,/Every poem an epitaph. And any action/Is a step to the block, to the fire, down the sea's throat/Or to an illegible stone: and that is where we start.
We die with the dying:/See, they depart, and we go with them./We are born with the dead:/See, they return, and bring us with them./The moment of the rose and the moment of the yew-tree/Are of equal duration. A people without history/Is not redeemed from time, for history is a pattern/Of timeless moments. So, while the light fails/On a winter's afternoon, in a secluded chapel/History is now and England --Eliot, Little Gidding

Invading the privacy of the King's Apartment in the middle of the night wasn't the most conducive behaviour to a long life, but there was a child, missing at least if not lost, who was a source of concern for a doting father and the pull of family led Giles to act a little recklessly.

"Young Philip, are you in here?" Giles called out in a loud whisper. "You should return to your tents, get a good night sleep before the melee tourney tomorrow. Don't want to miss it do you?"

But either Philip didn't hear him or wasn't convinced enough by the scholar's point to show himself.

Llwelyn feels his heart sink as dots begin to connect.
"A boy" He whispers in a hushed whisper to a servant. "You know who he looks like, and let us pray to Jesus in Heaven that is all we need to say on the subject"

Unable to locate young Philip, the search is abandoned, much to Sir Robert Faulconbridge's distress.
Philip of Cognac is currently missing. There may be opportunities to correct this later in the game.
