[D5 EA] Simon de Montfort vs Geoffrey de Tournemine

Post by Geoffrey of Tournemine » Sat Sep 18, 2021 3:54 am

Still bearing the scarf given by Constance, Geoffrey was prepared for the next round of the joust.

Coming in from his previous match, he crosses the field to meet Simon in the middle, lifting his visor. "Honor to be facing you Baron Simon. Lord be with you." He gives a moment for Simon to respond then makes his way to his starting side.

When the time came and the joust begun, Geoffrey spurred on his mount and charged. It was aimed properly but he was a bit forward in the saddle.

With the favour of house Beaumont adorned appropriately, Simon de Montfort stepped forward to the field. His previous eagerness and pride replaced with somberness and severity.

At the words of Geoffrey, he replied with a simple "God be with us both." His tone his perhaps a touch more earnest than intended.

As he rode forward, He could see it - he braced his lance and he could see the spot where he needed to strike he just needed to-

Not again!

Alas, he adjusts just a tad too much.

As the lance breaks itself on Simon, the young noble tries to readjust his seating but his flung from his horse, landing with a soft thud. Remembering his own worry he rose instantly, giving a thumbs up to show he was not too harmed.

When given the chance, he offered a bow to his opponent. "Well fought, Sir Tournemine. I am glad you are unharmed."

Wheeling back around, he approaches and dismounts. He offers a hand clasp after flipping up his visor. "And yourself Sir Montfort. I've got a lunch after this all, but I'd like to sit down for dinner with you later?"

The Simon shook his head, but took the clasp with pride.

"Tomorrow, perhaps - today has given me a lot to think about. I've heard a lot about the Mermaid's tears - should I meet you there?"

"Yes. Dinner tomorrow then," he agrees. "Now to find out who I face in the grand finale. I'll try not to do the same to whoever it is I face next," he says with a smirk. "If you go to sit with Lady Margaret now, please let her know that I look forward to our next conversation."

He tries, but the smile just doesn't grace his face. Instead, it is a sullen chuckle which escapes Simon's lips.

"I'll be certain to prepare her for your apology."

"Oh, there's no need for that, I offered my apologies already. One does not keep a Lady waiting for such things," he says shaking his head. "If I had waited until now to offer the promise of an apology later, I may as well have thrown mud at her."

He moves to take his horse from the arena so that the next pair can begin their round.

"No, no, no... never wait to offer apology to a lady Sir Simon. I learned that lesson early in life."

"Noted."

Simon nodded and bowed once more, before turning his attention to the horse that had been butting its head against him for some time.
"It's okay Ferrant, you did great work today. It I who erred."

With that, he leaves the arena to the next contestants.

Simon de Montfort: 100 Round 2 elimination
Geoffrey de Tournemine: 5 successful combat round, 25 defeating an average knight=30
Gm * Man of Angles * Sionnach * Scealai *

Every phrase and every sentence is an end and a beginning,/Every poem an epitaph. And any action/Is a step to the block, to the fire, down the sea's throat/Or to an illegible stone: and that is where we start.
We die with the dying:/See, they depart, and we go with them./We are born with the dead:/See, they return, and bring us with them./The moment of the rose and the moment of the yew-tree/Are of equal duration. A people without history/Is not redeemed from time, for history is a pattern/Of timeless moments. So, while the light fails/On a winter's afternoon, in a secluded chapel/History is now and England
