[D5 EA] Crehen VS Bramber
Posted: Fri Sep 17, 2021 6:49 am
by Geoffrey of Tournemine
Geoffrey rides onto the field bearing
Constance's colors. He crosses the list, pausing in the center to show his face to the Lord Bramber, as appropriate. He also offers a few quiet words that only the two men can hear.
"Lord be with you, sir. May the best man win," it was hard to tell if he considered either of the two best in this case. If his opponent has any words to offer, he'll hear them before moving to his starting position.
Eventually after the exchange he comes around and charges his opponent.

de Braose narrows his eyes at you, and for a moment you feel the chill at the soul of a man that could break hospitality and butcher his guests and neighbors. The fact that no one dared to challenge him at the Helm Show only goes to show the depths of his depravity. Still, the dip of his lance shows some respect to you and your station.
"And to you, Sir." His raspy voice returns.
Unfortunately for Lord de Braose, his horse stumbles on a stone buried among the muck of the lists, and his lance goes wide at the crucial moment.
Joust roll 1: Lance tn 12:

His lance connects with William in a good hit. It was a decent start but certainly not some dramatic and inspiring exchange.

William barely flinches, but rather bends easily to accommodate the force of the blow. Clearly, this man is a practiced combatant, if not a first-class lancer.

Round 2
de Braose salutes his opponent again, his expression empty of emotion. If he has registered the hit, he has not shown it.
Unfortunately, while a man with more lance experience might have made the ensuing hit, de Braose was not its equal. Endurance alone cannot win a joust. Surely he must know that?

As well he shouldn't because it was barely one thanks to a well timed shift in the saddle.

de Braose, murderer, swordsman, baron, falls down in the muck, his grit finally exhausted. The blow of the Breton knight is telling, and with a plop! de Braose lands on his touchis.
Geoffrey wins!!!

When his name is declared, Geoffrey makes his way to his opponent and dismounts, lifting his visor, and offering a hand clasp to his feet. "Fine match Baron William. It was an honor to face you," he says, clearly a bit sore and quite tired.

The lord of Bramber accepts your hand, "my thanks, Lord Geoffrey," his emotionless reply. "You are quite skilled on horseback, sir."

"All good fortune, with how close and even the match was. It could have easily fallen either way. Will I see you in the melee?" he asks, suspecting a confirmation coming.

"I should imagine so," says the Lord of Bramber. "I find myself enjoying a good scrap. You a swordsman, Lord Geoffrey?"

"Always preferred the axe myself," he admits. "Good for building momentum." He starts leading his mount off field alongside William.
"Much better with an axe than a lance."
