[D5, EA] Ranulf de Blondeville vs. Waleran de Beaumont

Post by Ranulf de Blondeville » Fri Sep 17, 2021 7:40 pm

Ranulf de Blondeville slams his visor down and sits erect astride his magnificent grey steed. In honor of his distinguished grandfather, who invented heraldry, he has bound a sheaf of wheat to the front of his shield.

His form is excellent, and as he thunders down the pitch, it seems that the Earl of Warwick may well be in danger.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be Ranulf de Blondeville's day, for Waleran de Beaumont angles his lance just so, and trouble ensues.

Joust tilt 1: Lance, tn 14: 1d20 14 That there's a critical hit.

Oh my God, I hope he doesn't just kill him!: 8d6 29

After armor soak of 14, He takes 15 damage, leaving him at 21 hp. Unfortunately, the heavy armor makes his Dexterity roll that much harder.

And he lands in the mud.

He hardly feels it, though.

Waleran dismounts to help his opponent up.

Ranulf snarls at Waleran and stands up on his own, stalking off the field.

Every phrase and every sentence is an end and a beginning,/Every poem an epitaph. And any action/Is a step to the block, to the fire, down the sea's throat/Or to an illegible stone: and that is where we start.
We die with the dying:/See, they depart, and we go with them./We are born with the dead:/See, they return, and bring us with them./The moment of the rose and the moment of the yew-tree/Are of equal duration. A people without history/Is not redeemed from time, for history is a pattern/Of timeless moments. So, while the light fails/On a winter's afternoon, in a secluded chapel/History is now and England
