How do I gain Influence?

Influence is gained by investing Glory you earn into a position.

How do I gain Glory, then?
Glory can be earned in the following ways:
1) Performing well in Events for which there is a Glory reward.

2) Having a success or critical success on a roll that is of powerful narrative significance to your character, or the action of which is cool. These are nominated by your fellow players, who are strongly encouraged to spread the love around by flagging posts for glory. 10 Glory per such occurrence. These also trigger an Experience Check at game's end. Each skill description in the book points out instances where glory can be gained with each skill.

3) If your character does something gob-smackingly awesome, achieves something especially significant, or is profound and chivalrous, I will throw extra glory at them commensurate with the weight of their achievement. If such an action is witnessed by an Earl, there will will be an extra 15 glory. If it is witnessed by Richard, John, or Eleanor, there will be an extra 30 glory. Those bonus awards are non-cumulative.

4) Any momentous task completed through teamwork (I hope there will be many!), has its glory award divided among the participants.

5) Each defeat of a knight in combat earns glory. This holds true both in and out of sanctioned events, but not if your action is illegal. The more glorious the Knight, the greater the glory.

6) You can convince your Earl to invest your House's cash in the form of donations to the Saladin Fund to the tune of 1 glory per 10 pounds cash.
