[D5 EE, Expecting] The Beef and Bowl

Post by Simon IV de Montfort » Fri Sep 17, 2021 1:52 pm

The Beef and Bowl? What a strange name.

In truth, he had been basically dragged into the establishment by an enthusiastic barmaid who many would call young, but the Baron would call his senior. Perhaps he had been recognized from the Joust? Perhaps something else?

In any case, the young lad was lead to a fancy second floor table, overlooking the streets of London and the dreary rain. He half wondered if he was being used as some kind of display piece...

A certain woman of looks and strangeness was a bit behind him and likewise lead into this direction, a old woman in a habit at her side, usually found while following margaret, while a young man at arms was following in a apropriate distance, he bearing the colours of the de beaurmonds

Once inside, he finds he was not alone in being enticed into the establishment. He feels almost unclothed due to the lack of Valet, but based on his recognition of the woman and her colours, he pieces a rough idea as to whom she is.

A friend of Aunt Margaret? It is only right to show them respect.

Immediately standing, he offers a deep bow to the woman and her associates, perhaps forgetting his own place as Baron.

"Welcome, welcome all. Any friend of Lady Margaret Would you honour me with your company?"

Giles came to the tavern to unwind, no matter how many times he had washed since this afternoon, the skin of his hands and forearms was still tinged a little pinker than normal, he had spent the last several hours at the bedside of John Castle watching over the fallen warrior and offering what medical treatment and prayer he could.

Now, he forced himself into the streets to find something to eat and to get out of the cloying scent of incense that pervaded those halls. He didn't even see the name of the establishment, but it smelled of real food, of meat and fresh bread and that would do.

He slumped into a chair at the bar, almost failing to notice the pair of notable occupants.

Fate, you have a wicked sense of irony today...

With his order placed, he offers a nod of acknowledgment to Miriam and Simon, not sure where there heads were at after today's incident and not wanting to impose if he was unwelcome.

For his part, Simon welcomes the de Barose to the table - Lord knows he is in no position to blame anyone but himself.

something something...misery....company...

Giles approached the knight and offered a deep bow, he knew himself he was unlikely to be good company but then when men ran at each other with pointy sticks, bad things were inevitably going to happen. Giles had already offered his prayers of thanks that it wasn't his brother or Lord's son struck down so effectively, but his merciful nature still made it hard to watch.

"Baron de Montfort, I see you escaped the rest of your bouts without serious injury, the Lord be praised."

He offered a polite bow to Miriam who despite their interaction on the field today, he had not even been officially introduced to.

"Giles de Braose m'lady, sorry we didn't get a chance to exchange pleasantries earlier but things were a little hectic."

Simon nodded at the arrival, offering a short bow from his seat.

He neglected to comment on his luck, however.

"I am quite willing to accept such a invitation, and please excuse my companions, the younger one is still a bit lacking in french, and the older one is dour and german, your aunt ordered her to acompany me as I was walking throught the city at night for my protection Sir Simon. "Sir Giles ,luck but troubled followed you today in that bout, bu all the harm done was it seems survivable."
She courtesies as she talks and then sits down, her two companions taking place around her.
" Even if I also find it sad that my champion for today was put down early, it seemed my favor there did not give him any romantic protection.

"If milady prefers a more broad spoken tongue for her guardian to join the conversation I am sure we could accommodate? I am sure he even has a name and your ecclesiastical friend as well."

Giles picked at a small morsel of bread that had been provided while the stew was still coming as he tried to continue with lighter conversation. "Perhaps your favour may not have ensured Sir Eudes victory, but perhaps he was inspired to fight well enough to avoid tragedy."

Simon nodded - just about following the conversation, even if his spoken Latin wasn't the best.

"Let me thank you both for your help today."
