Built on the site of Roman Londinium's amphitheater, believed by the people of 1189 to have been the palace of Brutus of Troy, London's (entirely mythological) founder, the Guildhall is the town hall of London, site of the Mayor of London's office, and meeting-place of its great artisan's guilds. It is the beating heart of the governance and commerce of the city, and, in time, it will become the beating heart of England itself. For now, it is a great place to transact business with the lesser luminaries of the kingdom and the hoi polloi as well.
