[D3 EA ]Open for Buisness [Open]
A woman of means needed a way to maintain those means and so it seemed apropriate to make her presence known in town so that those that desired some transference of money would know how to approach her , so she introduced herself and smiled as she presented a earnest attitude to those around her as she walked aiming to be seen.

Re: [D3 EA ]Open for Buisness [Open]
After a slow day of promenading with many takers--calculations needing to be made, after all--Miriam notices a pair of boys of about 13 looking up at her.
The first looks a little rough, with shaggy red hair and streaks of mud on his knees that suggest he has been playing rather roughly in the rain.
The second is slim, with a carefully cut thatch of blond hair and bright blue eyes. His nose, however, speaks strongly of French ancestry in the mix.
They are standing almost shoulder to shoulder, watching her from the relative dryness of the entryway of a tent bearing this device:

She looks over to them slightly raising a eyebrow and then , as she for the moment does not recognise the shield she walks over to them and offers a slight courtesy " Might I ask if there is a reason that the young sires lost their eyes when they looked at me ?" she says a hint of teasing , but not enough to count as breaking the bounds of property

The boys' eyes widen somewhat as you approach. They look at each other, unsure how to respond, perhaps, and then the red-head looks up at you and swallows.
"You look different than the other ladies," he says at first. "Prettier-like." He has the accent of a Hertfordshire lad. "Are you foreign?"
The blond boy covers his mouth with his hand as he gasps at his friend's rudeness.
"What?" asks the red-head. "Did I say somethin' wrong?"

"You did not say anything wrong, but some people don't like being called foreign. I come from southern france, even if family served the angevines also. But as for my skin? I have a heritage of the Mediterraneane and I am jewish. Miriam Yarchi, and how might I call the young lords?" As she talks she leans a bit down to get at more of a eye level with them. And well sometimes it is fun to charm and distract young men, and everyone that remembers her well might be a aid in years to come when times get dire.Philip of Cognac wrote: ↑Mon Sep 13, 2021 8:49 pmThe boys' eyes widen somewhat as you approach. "I'm Philip! And this is Hal."
Hal clears his throat. "Henry de Bohun, miss. I'm squired to Sir Henry de Grey."
"Yeah, I haven't got a knight yet," Philip says, "but it won't be too much longer. Do you like it here in England, miss?"

Philip's nose scrunches up at the mention of learning. That did not seem fun at all.Miriam Yarchi wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 6:26 am

Henry, though, considers for a moment. "So...does the part of France you come from owe fealty to King Richard or to Phillip of France?"

Henry smiles pleasantly. "That is to the good. I should find it uncomfortable to be a creature of Philip's here."
Philip's face darkens. "Hey!"
Bohun giggles. "Not you, Philip. King Philip!"
"Oh."

Every phrase and every sentence is an end and a beginning,/Every poem an epitaph. And any action/Is a step to the block, to the fire, down the sea's throat/Or to an illegible stone: and that is where we start.
We die with the dying:/See, they depart, and we go with them./We are born with the dead:/See, they return, and bring us with them./The moment of the rose and the moment of the yew-tree/Are of equal duration. A people without history/Is not redeemed from time, for history is a pattern/Of timeless moments. So, while the light fails/On a winter's afternoon, in a secluded chapel/History is now and England --Eliot, Little Gidding

She smiles and lets out a small giggle amused by this . "Well said young man, well said. But are you two for the moment free of orders, or are you not quite free of them and instead enjoy the beauty of the day." that she breaths in making he chest heave as she says beauty is surely just a accident.

Henry blinks. Philip seems not to notice. "Well, Hal's free for the moment, but in a year or so he's gonna be Constable of the Whole Realm!"
de Bohun, blushing, smacks Philip on the arm. "Shut up!"
Philip scowls. "What? It's good, isn't it? You're gonna be Constable, and I'm gonna be the Constable's best friend. Done and dusted."
Henry shakes his head. "I don't think it's going to be that simple, Philip. Not anymore."

Re: [D3 EA ]Open for Buisness [Open]
"There are many things that we would wish for to be simple, and yet they are not. " she says apreciating the good head on Henrys head . " Considering the crusade and your youth, I would assume that such is a position fought over. Also, young Philip, simply being the best friend of a man in power does not always end well. For there are always those that wish to have the ear of the powerfull, and someone that takes it away from them is seldom seen with grace. Furthermore, consider if being his friend quallifies you for a position, would not someone else that worked hard to obtain it, be twice as angry with you, first of all, for taking the position, and secondary for a feeling that you do not deserve it?Philip of Cognac wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 4:23 pmHenry blinks. Philip puffs out his chest. "So I shouldn't be his friend 'cause some jerk might get mad? Hal's a good guy!"
de Bohun's cheeks color just a bit.
"And!" Philip continues, "I think anyone who gets mad because a guy's friendly should get my knuckles for breakfast! See how he likes 'em!"
Henry shakes his head. "He gets excited, miss. Nothing to worry about, really. And the position, well, it was my father's, and my grandfather's, and his father's before that. There was a decree that it be passed down, so...but it seems like the new King wasn't very interested in that legal wrinkle. The de Vere's lost their position, too, and that also was hereditary from the time of Henry I."

"Being willing to think if it is rude to ask something is a important step, and if you say so, it makes the person asked more inclined to answer it, after all it shows care.
