Geoffrey was walking around the tavern, chatting with a few of the other knights that had signed up for the tournament. A few were simply still there to see who else would sign up, but some were enjoying themselves with a drink and stories much like the red headed baron.

Giles cocked his head to the side as he observed Geoffrey strolling around the tavern. Matilda had some interesting things to say about the man, and the de Braose scholar decided to try and take a measure of the man himself.

Besides, there was more than enough eel pie to go around.

"Sir Geoffrey," Giles calls out to the knight. "Do join me for a meal unless you be currently engaged?" He hails from across the taproom.

He looks to the man that shouted to him and nods, taking a few moments to cut off his conversation with a fellow knight, patting him on the shoulder.

He moves to where Giles was and bowed. "Good afternoon," he says with a warm smile. "I must admit, I did not get the chance to be formally introduced to you. At the coronation feast you seemed a bit insular."

"I was a little overwhelmed to say the least. My brother was rather vague about the scope of the guests and to find myself at such an elevated table was...well some sort of clerical mishap I am sure, but definitely an interesting one." He slides a chair out for the French Knight before rising and offering his hand.

"Giles de Braose, second son of the Lord of Bramber, vassal of William d'Aubigny."

"It is an honor to finally be introduced Giles de Braose," he says with a nod. "How is life treating you?"

He moves to sit in the offered chair, setting down the goblet of wine he had been carrying around.

"And an equal honor to be afforded an opportunity to converse with the man who left such an...overwhelming impression on Lady Matilda." Giles replied as he dug a fork back into the pie.

"Well one has a full belly, a roof over one's head - though canvas it may be - and all of one's extremities intact. All in all, I think life is treating me fairer than most, I hope you can say the same?"

"Ahh, yes," he says with a smile. "I imagine that she had some strong words regarding me. I... sometimes let my emotions rule my words.
But in all honesty the beauty of Ladies Nichole and Matilda is something to behold. I intend to seek permission from their father to entertain them tomorrow."

"As for myself, I have been well. It is nice to be visiting the abbey once again. I missed it last season due to affairs of my barony."

"Matilda did mention something about a trip into London town. Although to hear her tell it, it seemed more of an obligation than an outing. Just be careful you don't bite off more than you can chew with those two." Giles replied before punctuating his statement with another bite of pie.

"So you are familiar with Westminster then? How wonderful for you to be able to reacquaint yourself with the Abbey. It is much larger than the Priory at Abergavenny where I serve, please forgive my poor grasp of geography, though, your barony is...where exactly? This side of the channel or the other?"

"The other, on the north coast of Brittany," he replied. "But I have been frequently invited to attend events both political and faithful. Last I was here was for my nephew Arthur's baptism.". He take a drink.

"I am not surprised she sees it as such.
Lady Nichole was the one who brought up the idea and Lady Matilda was quite insistent on staying near her sister's side. Although I do hope that both have a wonderful time, assuming I am granted permission to show it to them."

"A well travelled man indeed." Giles answered with a genuine smile. "I think this is possibly the farthest I've been from Abergavenny since I've been old enough to remember such things. I may have to ask the ladies for some recommendations on sights to see after their return, for I get the distinct impression you are a resourceful man and used to getting what you want." Giles raises an eyebrow, not in judgment, but in a very light banter.

"In some things I can be, but I have yet to visit Rome which I would like to do someday. It's an expensive journey though and I'd be away from my home for a very long time to do so," he says with a smile.

Giles cracks a crooked smile. "Perhaps you should try to discern the route that King Richard plans to travel, there might be an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone? Although I imagine that may keep your from your home for an even more extended period."

He nods at that. "The crusades are one of many important duties of a christian knight, though not the only duty. I tend towards a more practical mind and there will still be need for justice and security back home while the armies of christ do their duty. I would be equally pleased to serve the King in either way," he offers. "Though getting to see Rome on the way and then Jerusalem itself? It would be something."
