Combat in Pendragon is a little different than what we're all used to, here at Fallenash. For one thing, there is no initiative. All combat actions happen simultaneously. There are two kinds of action you can take in a combat round: you can fight, or you can do anything other than fighting. All fighting in a round is resolved before all moving or other stuff in the round. The exception to this is if you're riding someone down on horseback, then you move and fight at the same time.
In combat events, all players participating in the event must state their intention for the first round in their first post. If your intention is to fight someone in arm's reach, then post an attack roll with the relevant skill. Make sure you note that it is the round 1 attack roll in its description on Orokos. If your intention is to move, say so and let us know where you're headed/what your intentions are. Same applies if your intention is to do anything other than fighting.
Regardless of your intentions during the round, you must post a defense roll and a damage roll in your first post as well. This is because the gms will be comparing rolls for success and failure and narrating the results of all of the simultaneous activity in a round summation post, after which round 2 will commence and the process repeats. Players are encouraged to have their characters react to the events of round 1 in their round 2 post, provided they also state their intentions for round 2. Under no circumstances will it be cool to have 2 posts in the same round.
In order for this to work, we need people to be serious about posting combat ghosting wishes that are clear and concise in their personal forums. Because there is a perceived advantage in waiting for information from other peoples' posts to post your intentions, there are timelines where combat could conceivably take the rest of our natural lives. We do not want the large combat events to spill over day flip. In very large events like the melee and the jousts, the gm staff will be ghosting somewhat aggressively so that we can maintain our schedule as best we can.

Every phrase and every sentence is an end and a beginning,/Every poem an epitaph. And any action/Is a step to the block, to the fire, down the sea's throat/Or to an illegible stone: and that is where we start.
We die with the dying:/See, they depart, and we go with them./We are born with the dead:/See, they return, and bring us with them./The moment of the rose and the moment of the yew-tree/Are of equal duration. A people without history/Is not redeemed from time, for history is a pattern/Of timeless moments. So, while the light fails/On a winter's afternoon, in a secluded chapel/History is now and England --Eliot, Little Gidding
