The southern half of the transept is dominated by the Lady Chapel---a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary. During the coronation, the chapel is blocked off by seating for the Earls and Barons of the realm. Seated to their front, at the edge of the central area, are the seats designated for Prince John and Arthur of Brittany.
Immediately after the coronation, this seating is removed and the chapel becomes a quiet place for prayer, reflection, and the occasional clandestine meeting.
