The North Transept will be used in later generations as a burial place for numerous English noblemen. In 1189, it holds some statuary and serves as a secondary prayer space and a point of transition from the abbey church to the cloisters of the monastery proper.

During the coronation, seating is placed here for the noblewomen of England. This seating is removed by the monks immediately after the coronation ceremony.
