The Court of Love: a Tribunal chaired by Eleanor of Aquitaine, featuring Ermengarde, Queen of Scotland, and Marie de France.
This is a hybrid Roll- and Role-play Event, in which women and scholars can broach subjects in order to elucidate the nature of love and debate them with these great ladies.
When you begin, make a separate thread for your disputation in the Westminster Hall area.
The debate turns on rolls of any of these skills:
Compose
Courtesy
Folklore
Intrigue
Orate
Religion (Roman Catholicism)
Romance
Singing
Stewardship
Note that your argument should reflect the skill that you are using.
Each attempt consists of at least 4 rolls.
1. A successful skill roll with one of the above skills to broach the subject. Please make sure your opening statement is open enough to entertain comment. Successfully broached subjects earn 10 points.
2-4. Each of the Great Ladies will comment on your subject, and you will be invited to reply to their comment. This will take the form of contested rolls. Success with Queen Ermengarde's intervention will net 15 glory. Success with Marie de France's intervention will earn 20 glory. Success with Eleanor of Aquitaine's intervention will earn 30 glory.
Optional 5-?: In addition, a PC may intervene once during the event on another PC's argument. The victor of that exchange will earn 15 glory.

Geoffrey was in attendance. As he was planning on only observing, he did not present himself formally to the judges to be recognized as such. Instead he finds a place to sit so he can observe the goings on of the court and the discussions. He... wanted to get in there and participate, but he also recognized that this event had been specifically created for those of this persuasion to shine. It would be rude to step in and compete as they had not gotten involved in the jousts...
Which made him wonder... on an intellectual level... if it would really be so odd for him to offer a favor to one of those participating in this as some ladies did for the joust. He wondered at the minefield of actually doing so with pending marriage negotiations and having had lovely meals with a not insignificant portion of the ladies of this court.
Yes. A potentially bad idea.
He looks around for Simon though. He could definitely encourage him to do something like that with his aunt.

Simon, for his part, knew danger when he saw it.
Intervening in that? That was danger.
However, he was taught to at least listen to his elders, and so he had parchment and quill ready to learn from the events that transpired.

Rising from his original seat, he moves to sit next to Simon. "Good morning Sir Montfort," he said, at a volume that would not interrupt proceedings.

Simon responded to Geoffrey with a nod, not daring disturb events.

So intense even before proceedings began. Geoffrey leaned over and spoke softly. "People will talk and discuss points and arguments made. It's good to take notes if you want to reference them later. But I believe the spirit of the thing is to allow the presentations of the scholars to inspire thought as much as learn. It will be important to discuss between showings."

Llwelyn regards what is occurring.
So, we are to debate "What is love?" To a group of noble ladies.
He reflects on that
Don't hurt me.

Andre tries his hand at the event,
here.
Let's see how it goes!

Simon nodded, but remained resolute. It was clear
In as much as a whisper as his voice could offer, he replies,
"
I know when I am out of my depth, sir. I would sooner say nothing and learn than risk the thousand of attacks that would come for me if I erred."
He ponders this stance, then whispers.
"
Do you plan on contributing to the conversation?"

"No," he replies. "This is their domain. I feel comfortable in it, but I'm not an expert."

A delightfully devilish idea skimmers its way across the mind of the young Baron, who for the first time in a long time, sports a boyish smile befitting his age.
"
I will if you will."

He smirks at that.
"You can if you wish. But they don't charge us on the jousting field, even if they know how to ride well. I'm not trying to diminish their glory by my participation."
"Which begs the question... we were given favors by Lady Margaret for our event. My promise sadly prevented me from carrying it, but perhaps you might return her the faith she showed in you? Send her a favor, Sir Montfort."

Simon shook his head, but nevertheless wrote down on a parchment and handed it to a nearby servant of the court.
"As a show of faith, I will follow your advice this once."

Geoffrey nods at him. "I might have gone a bit more symbolic, but I think it will go over well. After all, we are not used to giving such tokens and didn't prepare anything either."

Paul was there, he had missed enough of court being late that he did not want to miss more. He was surprisingly quiet given his reputation for boisterous behavior but he also knew when something wasn't meant for him and had no intention of interrupting.
He therefore sat back with an amused expression on hos lips as he watched the various scholars and ladies, likely more focused on the ladies, discuss the topic of love.
