Giles is only a step behind, following Andre's example in welcoming Simon to the table. "It would be an honor Baron de Montfort."

John nods slowly. "A good mindset to have, cousin. And a safe one. I hope that it will spread widely among the nobility."

He smiled at John, "Come now. It's not a rumor so it will spread like sap if it does at all. But if a few of us hold to such reasonableness then it will make the king's job just a mite easier."

"And the lives of his successors," John adds with a smile. "Customs are born this way, and, once born, not easily dislodged."

He smiles, not un-slimily, "There's this bullshit with the Archbishop, but I expect that will blow over soon. New pope, new instructions, you know how it is."

He smirks at news of Isabella's desire for a child. "Well, I have no doubt you are up to the tasks and challenges before you."

He understands the issues surrounding the two of them, but it wasn't his place to make determinations or judgements. What is good enough for one religious lead and not for another. His only horse in the race is that he cares for his family.

Surprised at the additional if familiar face, he nods before taking a seat.

"Thank you, sirs. I wish to speak to you all-" he turned to face everyone, including the firery haired knight, "about fulfilling the King's request. Though I am a subpar steward and orator, I have faith in my knowledge of battle to support such an endeavour."

Andre nods, his knowledge of protocol dictating that he should wait for his betters to speak.

"I am similar: some knowledge of the Court, and of managing an estate but my first call is to battle. Shall we meet to work out the King's request?"

Giles watched Llewellyn and Simon work on a proposal of teamwork and nodded in approval. He himself might have offered his assistance if the wibbly wobbly nature of time in these games hadn't already committed him elsewhere. So instead he politely turned his head so as not to intrude on their planning.

[Simon IV de Montfort]

Simon looked to Giles, but seeing him turn to excuse himself from the conversation made up his mind.

"Very well - I shall offer what assistance I can."
